Are you eligible for the SEAI solar grant?

SEAI make available a grant up to €2400 for the installation of solar PV panels and a battery storage system.
The amount available for solar panels is a maximum of €1800 for a system up to 2kWp with an additional €300 for every additional kWp up to 4kWp of panels and a battery storage system. The total Solar PV grant capped is at €2400 (updated on February 2022).
You are eligible for the grant if  your home was built and occupied before 2011. The second condition for eligibility is that after your solar PV system installation, your home must achieve at least a C BER energy performance rating.
Since 2009, a BER certificate is necessary when selling or renting a property, in line with the Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations. To check if your home has a BER certificate, use the MPRN number from your electricity bill to search for your certificate on the SEAI BER website. Don’t worry if you do not locate one, as only about half the properties in Ireland do.
If you have a BER certificate, then checking the impact of installing a solar PV system is easy and our solar advisors can talk you through the anticipated impact.
When we finish your solar installation, we supply you with an updated BER certificate as part of our handling of the SEAI grant application process.
